The Mira Costa girls softball team played their fourth double-header of the year against Mary Star of the Sea and Katella on Saturday March 24. The Mustangs handled both teams with ease, as they ten run mercy ruled both teams in five innings each by scores of 10-0 and 17-0, respectively. These two non-league wins now push Costa’s overall record to 7-3 on the season.
Costa senior Breanna Kelly pitched in both games and had two complete game shutouts with two strikeouts total. This now gives her seven complete games on the season and brings her pitching record to 6-1 for the year. She earned her team’s Player of the Week award for her performance in the games.
The girls next play on March 30 at home against Hawthorne.
