In the final home game of the season, the Mustangs defeated Morningside High School 49-19 on Oct. 31 on senior night.

After coming off of a two game losing streak, Costa started strong against Morningside with a 21-0 lead. However, Morningside recovered, and made the score 28-13 by the third quarter.

“We were facing a different offense so we had to change our approach,” defensive coordinator Ray Lee said. “We blitzed more and that helped us stop their offense.”

Tonight, Costa is playing Redondo Union High School. The Mustangs must win in order to qualify for California Interscholastic Federation playoffs.

“I’m excited,” Junior Nick Rangel said. “It’s an important game that decides if our season continues.”
