One Direction’s new album “Four” has got their fans “Ready To Run” to the store to buy it.

“Four” showcases their jaw dropping vocals and provides a smooth transition to a new sound from the band’s previous pop boy band style.

In 2010, all the members of One Direction auditioned for the X Factor UK separately, but Simon Cowell eventually put them into a group. They ended up placing third in the competition and they were then signed to Syco Records. They have since come out with three albums “Up All Night,” “Take Me Home,” and “Midnight Memories” prior to their newest release. In addition, One Direction recently finished a worldwide arena tour, which is one of their three major tours.

With “Four,” the band’s sound has changed significantly, displaying their maturity. Contrary to their previous pop and rock styles, “Four” is indie alternative. This change in style is a genius new direction for their music as they progress into being more than a boy band.

Unlike previous albums, at least one member of the band helped write the lyrics for almost all of the songs on this album. Having one of the band members write the songs improves the quality of the song. This is because it makes it more sincere by showing the members’ true feelings through heartfelt lyrics, that makes the album much more personal.

Louis Tomlinson finally has more solos and dominates the album with his beautiful voice. Although his voice is quiet and sometimes washed out, he still has moments such as his solos in “18,” “No Control,” and “Night Changes,” where his voice improves the song with its power and sincerity.

The song “18” stands out the most due to the mellow vibe created by the slow guitars and soft lyrics. “18” was written by Ed Sheeran and Oliver Frank, who wrote beautiful lyrics that are perfect for the album. The guitar’s slow tempo throughout the song gives it a relaxed tone.

Another noteworthy song is “Fireproof,” which is heart stopping due to it’s meaningful lyrics. Band members Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne worked on writing this song. When they sing “nobody knows you, baby, the way I do, and nobody loves you, baby, the way I do” it shows that they value their relationships and the importance of that part of their lives.
“No Control” is another breathtaking song off the album due to it’s upbeat drums and strong vocals from Zayn Malik. The upbeat song is fun to listen to and the lyrics are easy to relate to. For example, they talk about love and how intoxicating it can be when they say “I can’t contain this anymore, I’m all yours, I’ve got no control.”

“Four” is an outstanding album because it shows the band’s maturity through flawless vocals and beautiful lyrics, moreover, One Direction’s new sound kept the album interesting.

“Four is available on iTunes $11.99.
