Kevin Hart impresses yet again in his new bromantic comedy “The Wedding Ringer.”

Directed by Jeremy Garelick, “The Wedding Ringer” features a humorous and comedic storyline aided by a charismatic and amusing cast that develops throughout the film. Despite the basic and immature plot progression the film is ultimately held together by Hart’s charismatic persona.

The film centers around Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart) who runs a high-end business supplying best man talents to strangers in need. Nobody is needier than Doug Harris (Josh Gad), a sad rich guy with no friends, who’s about to marry the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting).

Despite Callahan’s rule of forming only business relationships with his clients, him and Harris soon form a “bromantic” bond that ultimately costs Harris his soon to be wife, who turns out to be a gold digger.

The most positive aspect of this film was the comedic duo formed by both Hart and Gad. Both demonstrated genuine emotion and passion, and fit the character’s roles perfectly. Together they were able to pull off downright ridiculous scenes that ultimately added to the films storyline.

In addition to Hart’s witty and charismatic appearance, the complete cast of groomsmen is uplifting for the films atmosphere. Instead of depicting the inner struggle of a man to find his true self, the recurring scenes of ridiculousness as seen when they attempt to reenact scenes from titanic, or when one of them announces he has three balls, creates a more comedic ambiance.

“The Wedding Ringer” is a unique blend of characters, however it is slightly weighed down by its simple and basic plot progression. Almost like a classic hero villain archetype, the film displays a banal and predictable story and outcome thus giving the film an essence of incompleteness.

Overall, “The Wedding Ringer” did deliver its quota of humor and charismatic acting, however the basic plot progression did hinder the film slightly. In the end it was Hart and Gad’s hilarious acting that catapulted the film to success.

“The Wedding Ringer” is rated R and is playing in theaters nationwide.
