The only pair of shoes one would want to walk in during “The Cobbler” is those of someone who is not watching this film.

Despite decent acting by Sandler, this film fails on numerous levels with barley any funny scenes and an overall tedious plot. The stale script also makes this film a complete bore.

“The Cobbler” follows Max Simkin (Adam Sandler), a cobbler, who has special powers and can transform into another person by putting on their shoes. The story follows Max as he interrupts the lives of others by becoming them. After becoming involved with crime and illegal activity, Max learns that his new power has some adverse effects as well.

In the beginning of the film, Max attempts to re-stitch all the problems in his life by pretending to be someone else. However, this film turns south as Max begins to get into trouble while pretending to be other people. The film attempts to tell three different stories as Max transforms into these people, making it confusing, and chaotic, as there is not one main story.

Another negative aspect to this attempted comedy is its lack of humorous jokes. The cheesy jokes come off as boring because of the poorly written script. The jokes are very stale, as they are immature. Most of the dialogue is awful and forced.

Additionally, the film is an uneven mess because instead of focusing on one story, it tries to tell three. The main conflict of the story can be solved halfway through the film, resulting in a predictable story.

Beside all the negative aspects, Adam Sandler did an exceptional job portraying the main character. He is very invested in his role and his acting helped not to make this film complete trash.

Despite Sandler’s talent, with no jokes and a bad script, this film’s storyline is also a failure. Due to the fact that Max is trying to live numerous people’s lives, the storyline consists of many bizarre scenes and sub-plots, which makes it confusing and hard to follow.

In conclusion, the film’s boring script and lack of comedic scenes ruin one of Sandler’s better acting jobs.

“The Cobbler” is rated PG-13 and is currently playing in select theaters and available for rent on “Amazon”.
