On Tuesday April, 21 the Mira Costa Boys Varsity Golf team took on cross-town rival Redondo Seahawks at Chester Washington Golf Course. The Mustangs were able to defeat the Seahawks of an overall score of 136-147.

With the help of Senior captain Jason Ruberman shooting a 38 on the back nine it lifted the spirit of the Mustangs as they outscored Redondo by 8 strokes on the back nine. Ruberman was also able to give the mustangs the edge with his phenomenal short game on the green.

“ I started off weak on the first hole but once I got into my groove I was able to settle down and drive the ball very well. Stressing my short game in practice helped me perform better on the green today,” said Ruberman.

The Mira Costa Mustangs get another shot at Redondo on Thursday April, 22 at Alondra Golf Course. If the Mustangs win Thursday they will improve their record from 7-1 to 8-1 on the overall season while gaining momentum for CIF.

“ I am very proud of how the boys composed themselves today and how they didn’t try to overpower the ball but simply trusting their technique to hit the ball straight. We are looking forward to play Redondo again this Thursday,” said Boys Varsity Golf Coach Ryan Branning.
