The Mira Costa Baseball Team played an away game against Serra High School on Saturday, winning, 4-1. The Mustangs now hold an overall record of 21-7 and a Bay League record of 6-2.

The Mustangs runs came from seniors Jackson Michalski, Luke Jelmini, and juniors Ty Conrad and Zack Chan. Junior Trevor Franklin pitched all seven innings for the Mustangs. Franklin threw 46 strikes out of the 72 pitches that he threw.

“We really had some good defense,” Michalski said. “We were not playing our best but we were able to keep our winning steak and play as a team.”

The Mustangs will play their rival Redondo Union High School (24-5) on Tuesday. Redondo is ranked first in Bay League, so it will be a challenging feat for the Mustangs to defeat Redondo. However, if the Mustangs keep improving their defense they will advance first in Bay League

“We are at the top of our game right now,” Michalski said. “Of course we are not playing perfectly but we are playing hard to work out the kinks.”
