Instant coffee that captures a true coffee-like flavor is hard to find, however, the coffee company, Jiva Cubes, comes very close.
Jiva Cubes are a quick and easy coffee substitute that have a pleasant, albiet replicated coffee flavor. However, they can often be too sweet and come in some unpleasant flavors. The Jiva Cube company was started by two Columbian Americans whose goal was to share the exquisite flavors of Colombian Coffee quickly with the rest of the world. The company began on Kickstarter, a website that allows anyone help fund small upcoming businesses and projects.
The cubes come in compressed Colombian coffee beans that are flavored with brown sugar. The company makes several flavors such Classic, French Vanilla, and Mocha.
The best flavor was the French Vanilla, which paired Jiva Cubes’ classic coffee brew with a hint of vanilla. The aroma was intriguing and the most attractive in comparrison to the other flavors. The French Vanilla also contained the perfect balance of sweetness which enhanced the flavor and made it the strongest and and most accurate replica.
While French Vanilla clearly had the best flavor, the Mocha had a satisfying flavor with its undertone of chocolate adding more flavor. But the aroma was weak and resembled dull and normal coffee. The mocha was very sweet but with the flavor of chocolate they balance out nicely.
The worst of the flavors are the Classic and Hazelnut. Both are overwhelming sweet leaving the coffee hard to drink and unpleasant. The flavoring of these two coffees resembled water more than the flavor of coffee. Both of the flavors had and weak and bland smell . The two flavors quality was upsetting because of how good the other two flavors were.
The cubes are easy to prepare and are nice to have on the go, because they don’t take long to make. The process is simple and the packaging had easy instructions. But the quality of the cubes vary because some take more time to dissolve compared to other cubes. But the problem isn’t a major setback but can be annoying.
Jiva Cubes depending on the flavors can be an impressive instant coffee because of their subtitle hints of chocolate and vanilla. The downsides of the cubes were how they were disgustingly sweet, and some had dull flavors.
