Sugarfina, a new luxury candy boutique at The Point surprisingly disappoints. Sugarfina has a simple aesthetic and a layout that is appealing to the eye, however, the shop’s candy did not match the charm of the boutique.

When first entering Sugarfina, it is clear that its simple and elegant interior and exterior does not match the idiosyncratic style of the candy itself. Despite the fact Sugarfina is a luxury candy shop, the candy that Sugarfina sells is low quality. The eccentric candy was very expensive for the low quality of the product that is being sold.

The simple white and chic interior of the Sugarfina store is very elegant. The store’s simplicity is an exceptional way to show off their products in a more creative manner. Aside from the white walls, Sugarfina is filled with bright colors and exciting signs that grab the customer’s attention and tries to interest them into buying their product.

Though the candy store has sold to big name brands such as E! Entertainment, People Magazine, Forbes, and Cosmopolitan, the high end candy store was not packed like anticipated. It would stand to reason that with this exposure, the line would be out the door.

The Sugarfina staff was willing to help however only if the shopper asks. The workers seemed shy and did not greet the customers with enthusiasm which made the beautiful store less inviting than it should be. If a customer were to ask a question however, the worker would then be willing to help them.

Sugarfina sells a wide variety of products. The store offers chocolates, gummies, champagne, marshmallows, cards, and much more. Sugarfina offers a wide range of flavor profiles and combinations to it’s high priced treats, yet the boutique lacks the essential basic flavors that every candy store needs such as pure dark chocolate and pure milk chocolate. Without them, they are unable to satisfy all types of people.

The candies themselves were not abundant in the delicious and addictive taste that other brands of candy stores provide. The food is appealing to the eye but not to the stomach. Some candies were difficult to bite into and even finish.

The candies can range from $7 to $100. The small portions are packed with candy and are $7. The large portions are very big and cost $20 but candies with unnecessary edible gold flakes can cost up to $100. Sugarfina offers a small and large serving of each unique confectionery. The small serving gives you plenty of candy to try and eat, while the large helping is enormous and should be shared.

If unique candy and other expensive products is what is being craved then head down to Sugarfina, but if simple quality and inexpensive sweets are being looked for you can go easily go to the better alternative See’s Candy.

Sugarfina, the luxury candy boutique is located at The Point in El Segundo and is open from 10 AM to 9 PM.
