Girls water polo sweeps West Torrance 10-2

Mira Costa’s girls water polo team defeated West Torrance 10-2 in a non-conference game Wednesday at the West Torrance Plunge, with top performances by senior utility Kaylee Brownsberger and junior attacker Aminadi Anorve.

The Mustangs jumped out a big lead in the first half and were leading 5-0. In the second half, Costa continued strong and with three goals by Brownsberger two goals by Anorve, Costa defeated West Torrance. According to Brownsberger, the team continues to improve.

“We keep on improving, and every game gets better,” Brownsberger said. “I am really proud of our team, and I think we will continue our momentum.”

The Mustangs are currently 4-1 in Bay League and 13-9 overall. The team’s will next play in the Irvine Southern California Champions tournament at the Irvine Dive Pool on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. According to Brownsberger, the tournament will be great practice for California Interscholastic Federation.

“I know that we should play well in the tournament if we continue to play to the best of our abilities,” Brownsberger said. “We have improved so much over the season, and we are excited to play.”
