Mira Costa’s boys lacrosse team crushed Birmingham 18-1 at home on April 6, upsetting the Patriots previous undefeated record. The Mustangs were able to score multiple goals because they maintained possession for the majority of the game.

Costa scored the first ten goals of the game, four of them from senior Zane Crandall, before Birmingham scored its only goal on a man up play. Costa continued to score until the end of the game, 18-1. According to junior Casey Bonner, the team was able to successfully run a new play that the boys have been working on during practice.

“We were able to move the ball quickly, which helped us create a lot of offense opportunities to score,” Bonner said.

Costa, now 8-3 overall on a five game winning streak, will next play Damien in a home game on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Bonner says that he is expecting a win with Crandall back in the field.

“I think we will be perfectly fine,” Bonner said. “We have Zane back and he’s a great leader on the field, and I’ll be expecting the win.”
