Mira Costa’s baseball team lost at home to the Palos Verdes Sea Kings 4-2 in their second Bay League game this year on Friday, with a top performance from freshman Chase Meidroth, who helped the Mustangs stay in the game until the end.

Meidroth had two hits in three at bats and contributed to one of the Mustangs two runs scored. According to Meidroth, the team needed to be more consistent in the end of the game to pull away with a win.

“Our team played a pretty good game today,” Meidroth said. “We battled the whole game but  couldn’t find a way to score some runs late in the game.”

The Mustangs are now 14-3 overall and start out their Bay League season 1-1. The team plays their next game on Saturday away against Golden Valley High School. According to Meidroth, as long as the team keeps up their consistency, they should have no problem doing well in their next game and the future.

“Well every game we have to play like it’s our last, Meidroth said. “Teams are going to be out to beat us so we have to keep working hard every day. Our team is fighting hard for one another and picking each other up. We just have to keep playing as a team if we are going to continue to be successful.”
