The Southern California Regional Occupation Center (SoCalROC) awarded scholarships to Mira Costa students at the MBUSD board meeting on Wednesday night.
Scholarships were awarded to seniors Sean Fitzgerald, Shirleen Chen, Diana Ovalle, Leatha Parie and Kamilah Sanko. According to Chen, SoCalROC students submitted applications for the scholarship to be reviewed by the scholarship board that decides which students with receive the scholarship. Chen has been a SoCalROC student in the School of Finance and Business since last year and has been awarded the Law Offices of Eric Bathen’s Scholarship.
“I worked very hard on my application, and I feel that it was well worth it,” Chen said. “I am more than grateful that I have been able to use this scholarship to fund important resources that I will use during my four years in college and even post-graduation.”
