Boys water polo defeats San Marcos 11-9 in first game of the season

Mira Costa’s boys water polo team defeated San Marcos High School 11-9 on Saturday at home after maintaining the lead the whole game.

Sophomore Chris Agliozzo had a top performance for the game with 5 goals scored and who leading the attack on San Marcos defense. According to junior Alex Nahabed, the team worked hard for this victory.

“We practiced hard throughout the whole week,” Nahabed said. “Our hard work payed off big time and we are all really excited to have won our first game of the season.”

Costa is now 1-0 overall and they are set to face the the Royal Highlanders water polo team at a non-conference game in Ventura on Wednesday at 3:15.

“We are very excited to play against the Royals,” Nahabed said. “We will have a lot of momentum going into the next game.”
