Blink 182 ended their summer tour with a bang, performing a masterfully assembled concert featuring rock bands A Day to Remember and All Time Low on October 1st at the Los Angeles Forum.

The energy at the concert was palpable due to the intense lighting effects and pyrotechnics that successfully engaged the crowd. Fans from each band came together to enjoy the high energy rock performances and listen to quality music they could all enjoy.

Blink 182 began their 44-stop summer tour in San Diego, touring with bands A Day to Remember, All Time Low and All American Rejects across the nation. Blink 182 ended the last month of the tour with the popular pop punk bands A Day to Remember and All Time Low.

This tour was Blink 182’s first tour with their new guitarist Matt Skiba. Blink 182 played songs from their new album, “California” and A Day to Remember also played songs from their new album “Bad Vibrations” which were both released in 2016.

All Time Low opened the show and despite a pyrotechnics mistake, they gracefully performed a set of relaxed, pop-like songs that enticed listeners to sway their phone flashlights and lighters in the air. The band did a brilliant job at opening the concert and recovering from the interruption due to the mistimed pyrotechnic.

All time Low played many of their hit singles including “Weightless,”  “Somewhere in “Neverland,” and “Backseat Serenade.” These songs were performed skillfully, making it nearly impossible to differentiate the sound quality between their concert performance and professional recordings.

The second performance by A Day to Remember brought an explosive energy to the theater. The audience stood up on their feet and danced to the superb music entire time the band was on stage. A Day to Remember’s performance left concert goers wanting an encore. Their performance was seemingly flawless with not a single missed cord or mistake.

A Day to Remember performed a balanced set with a mix of classic songs and new material from their album, “Bad Vibrations” that was released on September 2. They opened their performance with a “The Downfall of Us All” and “Second Sucks” which are two of their most well known songs. Their impeccable performance caused fans to sing along to the music creating an inclusive environment.

Blink 182, the headliner, successfuly maintained the high energy by opening with their biggest hits, “What’s My Age Again?” and “The Rock Show.” Graphics including clips from music videos were projected onto a screen behind the performers and pyrotechnics added a great level of showmanship to their performance. Sparks flew down from the ceiling, colorful lights flashed and pillars of fire shot upward to the beat of the songs, adding to the flawless concert.

Blink 182’s decision to play their most famous songs early in the set and fade to slower songs towards the middle of their performance showed poor planing in song order. Although the tempo slowed down towards the middle of their performance, they brought up the energy again at the end.

Overall, the lineup for this concert was immaculate and the bands worked perfectly together to create a show with a variance of styles in the rock genre. The advanced pyrotechnics, background graphics and lighting also complemented the music perfectly, which added excitement to the concert experience.
