Mira Costa’s girls volleyball defeated Peninsula High School at a home game on Monday. Top performers were senior outside hitter Alexa Underwood, junior setter Lily Snyder, and junior libero Lea Ungar.

The Mustangs started out slow but ended up defeating Peninsula in three games, 25-23, 25-12, and 25-15, keeping their winning streak alive. According to senior outside hitter Amanda Montag, Costa did really well sticking through the whole match especially when the team started to get sloppy.

“We stayed calm and collected and rallied through the tough points and kept fighting back throughout the whole match,” Montag said.

Costa, now 5-0 in Bay League and 19-6 overall, will play Mater Dei on Wednesday at Costa. Mater Dei is extremely high ranked, so the game will be an opportunity for Costa to display and refine its skills, according to sophomore libero Malia Yuhl.

“Mater Dei is a powerhouse that does a lot of recruiting so it’s always fun to beat a team like that,” sophomore outside hitter Sami Underwood said. “The game affects the seeding for the CIF so we want to win to get a better seed.”
