All Mira Costa students and staff evacuated buildings and headed to their respective evacuation locations during third period today after a fire alarm went off because of burnt popcorn in the history building.
Principal Dr. Ben Dale made an announcement over the loudspeaker stating that it was not a drill before ordering all staff and students to evacuate. After approximately 15 minutes, students and staff proceeded back to their classrooms.
“We believed what caused the alarm to sound was burnt popcorn,” Vice Principal Jon Shaw said.
