The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office determined today that there is not enough evidence to file charges against a Manhattan Beach Middle School faculty member for alleged misconduct.

The alleged misconduct involved a MBMS student. A source filed charges against the MBMS employee to the Manhattan Beach Police Department on Oct. 13.

MBPD then began an investigation and brought the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which has deemed the evidence insufficient. The Manhattan Beach Unified School District will conduct its administrative investigation while the employee stays on administrative leave.

“The District was informed today that after finishing its investigation the MBPD will not be filing criminal charges against the employee,” MBUSD Superintendent Dr. Michael Matthews said in an email to MBUSD parents and guardians today. “The District takes the allegations seriously, always placing student safety first.”
