Costa’s girls soccer team defeated its cross-town rival, El Segundo High School, 3-2 under the lights at Waller Stadium on Friday, where they were led by senior forward Emmie Farber who netted the first goal of the game.

The score bounced back and forth between the Mustangs and the Eagles with goals from each side occurring consecutively after one another. According to Farber, communication played a key role in this game, allowing for them to have an edge on their opponent.

“I think we played well, especially in the beginning with having good composure and a good deal of communication,” Farber said. “We seemed to freak out towards the end when we were losing our level of communication and composure, but we did what we needed to in order to secure the win!”

The Mustangs, now 2-0 overall, will host the Marymount High School Sailors on Tuesday at Waller Stadium. According to Farber, as long as the team can carry along its communication from Friday’s game and stay focused throughout the game, the Mustangs should come away with another win.

Heading into next week’s games, we just need to stay focused on the game and not think about anything else that is going on,” Farber said. “Being focused and mentally prepared is key for next week.”
