A spinoff of the Discovery Channel hit television show “Mythbusters,” Netflix’s “The White Rabbit Project,” far exceeds the expectations set by its predecessor.

Despite being hard to follow at some points due to a lack of linear plot including cheesy transitions, “The White Rabbit Project” details intriguing science experiments, comical dialogue and excites with impressive action sequences.

The show stars former Mythbusters Tory Belleci Kari Byron and Grant Imahara. Using a combination of science and technology, the hosts attempt to test and recreate strange scientific phenomena. Once the hosts have thoroughly tested their creations, they rate them in a variety of different categories, including similarity to original experiment and practicality.

“The White Rabbit Project” is produced by Beyond Productions, the same production company that produced “Mythbusters.” The first season of the Netflix Original Series was released on Dec. 9 and features ten 45-minute episodes.

Many of the show’s experiments deal with complex scientific ideas. However, the complicated sequence does not at all diminish the show’s entertaining quality at all. The hosts do an excellent job explaining the science in a way that can be understood by a viewer of almost any age group.

The show’s most important attribute is its comedic script. The idea to incorporate comedy was seemingly taken from “Mythbusters” and adds increased entertainment to the plot. The hosts crack jokes, make pop-culture references and do their best to incorporate slapstick humor into each experiment.

Many of the experiments featured in the show include intense action scenes. From shooting guns, to shocking targets with an 1,000,000 volt electric charge, to using an ice gun to freeze targets, the series has no shortage of special effects and exciting scenes.

One of the few negative attributes of the show is its lack of plot structure. It feels as though the hosts jump straight into the experiments, without much explanation or background. This disjointed plot, combined with the show’s lack of a central setting, makes it difficult for viewers to follow at some points.

The way in which the hosts attempt to transition from one experiment to the next is unusual and perplexing. The hosts all meet in a random central location such as a warehouse, where they immediately launch into unprovoked conversation about their next experiment. Awkward transitions leave the viewer confused about what the hosts are trying to accomplish.

“The White Rabbit Project” is well worth watching. If nothing else, it provides a more fun and light-hearted continuation of “Mythbusters” and despite its disjointed plot, the show is intriguing and informative.

The series includes an entertaining mix of science, comedy and action. “The White Rabbit Project” is available for viewing on Netflix for free.
