Mira Costa’s boys basketball team fell to Palos Verdes 57-56 in overtime on Friday in a home game. Top performances came from senior point guard Brandon Chan and junior shooting guard Bobby Barkley.

Costa was mainly in control of the game but PV slowly came back in the end. Palos Verdes made a three pointer tying the game in the last three seconds, causing them to go into overtime. Costa was up by two points with two second left when the other team made a half court shot, winning the game.

“We didn’t get discouraged with the three point shot and continued to play confidently in overtime,” senior forward Jonas Pittman.

The Mustangs, now 10-8 overall and 0-2 in Bay League, will play Morningside High School in a home game on Tuesday. According to junior point guard Tommy Waller, the team will be motivated since it is searching for its first win in Bay League.

“We will get back in the gym, have a great couple of practices and be ready for Tuesday,” Chan said.
