The talented and politically centered rock band Green Day disguise powerful and important issues of modern day politics in their new album, “Revolution Radio”.

Green Day continues to stay true to their focus on politics in their songs which is portrayed through up tempo alternative rock.  Although the collection of twelve songs are masterfully written and are wonderfully sung by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, the similar tone and familiar beat featured in each song demonstrate the lack of creativity and repetitiveness of the album.

The album, “Revolution Radio”, was recorded in the Otis studio in Oakland California and was published under Reprise Records.  Green Day continues making music that is characterized as being a combination of punk rock, pop punk, and alternative rock.  Green Day also is recognized for their energy, speed, and catchy three-chord punk where they often blend in political topics to bring up awareness in society.

Each song featured in the album relates to a specific political issue that the U.S is currently dealing with, such as the current gun violence that terrorizes the U.S which is portrayed in the song “Bang Bang”.  The band succeeds by incorporating the use of current political issues into their tracks making each song extraordinary and fresh.

Although the songs in the album are repetitive, “Outlaws” manages to stand out.  It is brilliantly written with an exceptional guitar solo in the middle followed up by moving lyrics painting a picture of the rise of gun violence in the U.S.  Green Day does a tremendous job blending the instrumentals and lyrics rendering an utmost stellar song.

Disappointingly, Green Day fails to produce an album with a wide variety of instrumentals causing the album to build a collection of monotonous tracks.  As all twelve songs have very little variety between them the instruments begin to become repetitive as the album goes on.
The album was released on October 7th and is available for streaming through Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify.
