Mira Costa’s girls basketball team defeated Inglewood High School 76-23 on Tuesday at Mira Costa High School in a Bay League game. Costa finished the game by scoring 53 more points than Inglewood.

Costa started off strong, pushing ahead by the end of the first half. Costa’s aggressive offense and defense made it difficult for Inglewood to score throughout the second half. Inglewood was unable to catch up, and Costa won the game 76-23.

“Our strategies were to keep running our plays effectively, and to keep encouraging each other,” senior Allie Navarette said.

Costa is now 17-8 and 8-1 in Bay League, and will play against Redondo High School at Mira Costa High School on Thursday. To prepare for the next game the Mustangs are going to work on closing out on shooters and boxing out.

“We were unselfish which lead to a lot of assists and easy baskets,” Navarette said.
