Mira Costa’s boys baseball team dominated, winning 13-3 against Bellflower High School at a home game on Friday during the El Segundo Tournament, after six runs were scored in the first inning.

Costa on top remained in the lead by scoring 12 times before the end of the third inning. With a pitching performance from junior Jesse Storey the Buccaneers had difficulty scoring. Storey kept Bellflower at bay until they scored two runs in the second inning.

“We hit very well today and Jesse Storey pitched his sack off,” senior third baseman Matt Beserra said. “Our dugout was electric which really kept us in the game every single inning. We played harder and scored more runs today.”

The Mustangs, now 2-1 overall, will next play Junipero Serra High School on Saturday at an away game. Beserra said, the goal for the next game is to come out strong and loud and be into the game all 7 innings.
“We definitely improved from the last games which was good,” Beserra said. “Next game we want to beat the team so they want to quit baseball.”
