Manhattan Beach residents elected three new City Council members and approved Measure H with a two-thirds vote on Tuesday in the Manhattan Beach City General Municipal Election.

The new City Council members are Planning Commissioner and attorney Nancy Hersman, small business owner Richard Montgomery and Los Angeles County Projects Coordinator Steve Napolitano, who beat out City Council incumbents Tony D’Errico and Mark Burton and will serve with current City Council members David J. Lesser and Amy Thomas Howorth. Residents also elected City Treasurer and Certified Public Accountant Tim Lilligren as City Treasurer and approved Measure H, a Los Angeles County bond that will raise the sales tax a quarter of a cent and generate about $355 million annually in order to prevent and end homelessness in Los Angeles County.

“I was encouraged to run for Council by many friends who felt I would be a good Council member,” Hersman said. “I had a great team of people who helped me to campaign.”
