Mira Costa’s baseball team lost to Hart High School 3-1 in an away game on Saturday. The team was supported by top performances from junior pitcher Jesse Storey and senior right fielder Kohl Titzler.

The score was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth when Hart made a run, putting their team in the lead. Storey pitched for five innings and had three strikeouts. Defense played well, but the other team was able to get more runs across than Costa, according to Titzler.

“The offense did a good job at getting runners in scoring position but we struggled to continuously capitalize on those opportunities,” Titzler said. “We fought hard until the end but it just wasn’t in the cards today.”

The Mustangs, now 8-4 overall, will play Peninsula High School at an away game on Wednesday the 29th. According to Titzler, they are going into Bay League next week with a fire to win.

“This week we will work on improving baserunning,” Storey said. “Additionally, being able to cash in runs in scoring opportunities.”
