Costa’s boys volleyball team bounced back from a loss against Loyola with a 3-0 sweep of its own against Palos Verdes High School on Tuesday at home. The Mustangs were lead by sophomore outside hitter Thomas Kretschmer.

Kretschmer found himself a spot in the starting line-up, and did not disappoint, totalling over 10 kills in all of the games against the Sea Kings. The Mustangs won the first set 25-18, the second set 25-23, and the third set 25-22.

“We did a good job playing our game,” Kretschmer said. “We found a way to not only build up our momentum, but keep it for the entire game and just ran with it.”

The Mustangs, now 7-4 overall and 2-0 in Bay League, will play Inglewood High School on Thursday in an away match. According to Kretschmer, the team is happy with a big win, but still has some work to do if they hope to take a league title.

“It was a good game to win after a losing streak,” Kretschmer said. “We have work to do but it’s a good start to getting where we want to be.”
