La La Land in Concert: Exceeds even the movie

Audience members settle in the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, May 27 to enjoy food before the concert. The performance on the 27th was the second day of the international premiere of “La La Land in Concert: A Live- To- Film Celebration.”

“La La Land in Concert: A Live-to-Film Celebration,” the live version of the Academy- Award winning film “La La Land,” dazzled its crowd of 17,000 fans through the graceful work of the film’s musical ensemble. The creative presentation of the production showcased in the iconic Hollywood Bowl is reflected in the performance, bringing an effortlessly timeless vibe never seen before.

To rhapsodize about “La La Land in Concert: A Live-to-Film Celebration” is to complete the experience. The concert leaves audiences in awe, as talented musicians revive the beauty of the film’s score perfectly. A creative disposition leaves viewers mesmerized with stunning visuals and the Hollywood Bowl presented the perfect backdrop for a flawless concert.

The concert was composed and conducted by Justin Hurwitz, who orchestrated the original score of “La La Land.” Hurwitz’s score is a masterpiece, in “La La Land in Concert: A Live-to-Film Celebration,” his magnificent work was complimented even further.

While the film was screened, Hurwitz and the 100-piece musical ensemble performed the soundtrack, whereas Gosling and Stone’s vocals were kept untouched.  Complete with an array of instruments, the ensemble featured a respective orchestra, choir and jazz ensemble, including pianist Randy Kerber and three time Grammy-winner and trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval.

Hurwitz and the musical ensemble artistically re-created the wondrous soundtrack of “La La Land,” intricately performing the musical score in a manner that sounded better live than in the movie. Kerber, Sandoval and the orchestra’s work during the performance was one of the main highlights and the range of their talent shined in all the tracks with stunning acoustics and impeccable melodies.

In addition, the presentation of the concert made it an unforgettable experience. The production was colorful and charming, making it one of the most impressive aspects of the concert. Adding to the showcase were fireworks at climaxes of the film, and the Bowl’s bandshell illuminating in coordination with the film’s vibrant color scheme.

The Hollywood Bowl also created a whimsical and classic vibe to the concert, providing a dream-like atmosphere, perfectly fit for the mood of “La La Land.” The Hollywood Bowl served as a wonderful alternative to an indoor venue and hosting it there added the perfect touch to the live performance. The venue enhanced the quintessential feel of the concert, contributing to the captivating mood of the film.
