The Mira Costa girls golf team swept Santa Monica High School by an overall score of 229-293 at Chester Washington Golf Course on Tuesday. The Mustangs were led to an easy victory with a top performance from freshman Juliae Shoda, sophomores Isabella Walker and Erica Skinner.

The team’s key player, Shoda, didn’t fail to keep her score the lowest among other players’ and brought in the best score of the day with a 40. She was fueled by a score of 44 from Walker and a score of 45 from Skinner throughout the match. A few players hit several shots off the toe but we still managed a win against Santa Monica in the end, said Skinner.

“It was a victorious day at our home course today versus Santa Monica,” Walker said. “Everyone contributed to the win today with Mustang Pride and I’m so proud of our team!”

Costa is now 6-3 overall and will rematch Santa Monica at Penmar Golf Course on Thursday. We are satisfied with the results and are working hard towards league play, said Skinner.

“We’re only two weeks away from Bay League,” Skinner said. “We will continue to bring in positive energy and work on our consistency on the green as a team.”
