Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Santa Barbara High School 12-6 in a non-league away game. Top performer, sophomore Audrey Vo went undefeated to shut out Santa Barbara.

Tennis played the #9 ranked team in Division 2 in a match that was much more competitive than the final score would indicate according to coach Joe Ciasulli. Vo won three sets 6-0, 6-2, and 6-4 in first position.

“We played very well at Santa Barbara,” sophomore player Olga Nagy said. “Although they were a Division 2 team it was still competitive and exciting.”

The Mustangs, now 7-3 overall and 1-2 in Bay League, will play Redondo High School this Thursday at home. Although today’s win was well deserved it is still important for the team to stay humble during the season, said Nagy.

“Moving forward we can work on the doubles team and working better together more,” Nagy said.
