The Mira Costa girls golf team defeated West Torrance by an overall score of 199-223 at Alondra Golf Course on Thursday. Costa’s top performers included sophomores Shani Waite and Isabella Walker, junior Klara Nagy and freshman Juliae Shoda for their consistent shots.

The Mustangs were led by Waite with the lowest score of 37. Both Walker and Nagy supported the victory with a score of 39 and were backed up by a score of 40 from Shoda. Nagy said that everyone did great and it was the best score as a team of the season.

“Although my drives were a little less consistent than usual, I’m happy that I managed to score a 39 and contribute to the win,” Nagy said. “I’ll be working on hitting consistent drives in the next couple of days.”

Costa, currently 2-0 in Bay League and 9-3 overall, will next play against South Torrance High School at Chester Washington Golf Course on Tuesday. She is satisfied with the results and will work harder on the long distance shots, said Walker.

“I prepared this week with extra putting drills and it really paid off,” Walker said. “I’m hoping to see more improvement like this in the next match.”
