Girls Tennis defeats rival Redondo 14-4

Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated rival Redondo Union High School 14-4 at home on Thursday. Top performers sophomore Olga Nagy and freshman Kacey Feng went undefeated in the match today.

The Mustangs effortlessly won seven singles sets and seven doubles sets to close out Redondo. Nagy and Feng won three sets 6-1, 6-3, and 6-1 in a win for Costa. In singles sophomore Audrey Vo won two sets 6-3 and 6-1 in first position.

“It was really exciting to play our rivals again,” Nagy said. “We are glad we beat them again this year and hope to continue that trend.”

Costa, now 8-3 overall and 2-2 in Bay League, will go on to play Peninsula next Tuesday Oct. 10 at Peninsula High School. They hope to improve on their mental game moving forward according to Feng.

“We did really well against Redondo,” Feng said. “They are not the strongest team but it was good practice for our upcoming matches against stronger teams.”
