Mira Costa’s girls golf team continued its success with a commanding win against South Torrance High School by an overall score of 206-246 at Los Verdes Golf Course on Thursday. Costa’s top performers included sophomores Shani Waite and Isabella Walker, junior Klara Nagy and senior Delilah Gunn for their powerful shots and accurate putts.

Waite successfully led the team with a score of 37 and pulled out a win for the Mustangs. Throughout the match, she was fueled by a score of 42 from Walker, Nagy and Gunn and a score of 43 from sophomore Erica Skinner. The team’s performance today was really good, said freshman Juliae Shoda.

“For me, today was not my best day and I will work on some things over the weekend to improve my game,” Shoda said. “We will continue working hard to prepare for the upcoming matches and league finals next week.”

The girls’ record is now 10-3 overall and 3-0 in Bay League. Costa next competes against its biggest rival Palos Verdes Peninsula High School at Palos Verdes Golf Club on Tuesday. Skinner said she’s very impressed with what the team has accomplished so far.

“As we get later into the season, our scores have been getting more consistent as a team,” Skinner said. “I think this shows how hard we’ve been working throughout this year and I’m proud of the team for pulling through.”
