Mira Costa girls golf team won the Bay League Championship after achieving a win over Peninsula 203-219 at Chester Washington Golf Course on Thursday. The top performers included senior Delilah Gunn, junior Klara Nagy, sophomores Shani Waite and Erica Skinner and freshman Juliae Shoda for their powerful shots and accurate putts.

Nagy led the team to victory with a par 36, her lowest score of the season. Waite and Gunn also contributed to the win with scores of 39 and 42, respectively. Skinner and Shoda both finished strong with a seven-over-par 43, capturing the win for Costa.

“I haven’t been playing that well in the last couple of matches, so I’m happy that I got to help my team win,” Nagy said. “It was our best team score yet and everybody did their part for us to become co-league champs.”

With an overall record of 12-4 and 5-1 in Bay League, the Mustangs successfully finished the Bay League season as the Champions for the seventh consecutive season. The Mustangs will next compete in the CIF Individual Regional Tournament at Soule Park Ojai at 8 a.m. on Monday.

“I’m sure the girls will put up their best performances,” Skinner said. “I will definitely put extra time and effort to be prepared for the tournament in the next few days.”
