“Happy Death Day” follows a puzzling and repeating plot, with clever humor and an amazing cast. The movie came out on Oct. 13 and is extremely terrifying, action-packed and will soon be a classic in the slasher film genre.

The film is directed by Christopher B. Landon, and stars Jessica Rothe as college student Tree Gelbman and Israel Broussard as college student Carter Davis. The movie takes place and was shot at Bayfield University in New Orleans and at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The story follows Gelbman after she wakes up on her birthday in Carter’s bed. Later that night she is ruthlessly murdered by a killer wearing a baby mask. She then wakes in Carter’s bed, exactly the same as last time, and has to relive her same birthday over and over again until she finds out who her killer is.

The film’s mind-blowing twists come out of nowhere and create suspense for what will happen next. The more the story unfolds, the more confusing and complex it becomes.

With breath-taking special effects, the dramatic action continuously improves throughout the film. Large explosions, long and intense fight scenes and amazing cinematic shots all add to the spectacular effects.

The movie’s fabulous soundtrack perfectly sets up the scenes including “In Da Club” by 50 Cent in a party scene, or “Confident” by Demi Lovato in a build up scene. Each song adds its own spice to the mix as it is parallel to the type of scene it is played in.

The cast of “Happy Death Day” keeps the movie afloat with its big names like Jessica Rothe, who plays Gelbman. Rothe perfected the role and makes Gelbman act like a snotty, self-centered girl who only thinks about herself.

Although the film is composed nicely, the ending leaves many questions for the audience. The movie never explains how she is able to relive her birthday and it never explains any background about her mom, which seems significant to the plot.

Overall, “Happy Death Day” is an incredible movie that contains jump scares, action and adventure that leave the audience hiding their face in horror one moment, and the next moment wanting to watch more.

“Happy Death Day” is rated R and is playing in theaters everywhere.
