Girls Tennis swings past Cate in a 12-6 win

Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Cate High School 12-6 in the first round of CIF Playoffs at Cate High School on Wednesday. Top performance from doubles player sophomore Olga Nagy and singles player freshman Audrey Vo.

In singles, Vo won three sets in first position 6-4, 6-0, and 6-0. Sophomore Kiki Daviduk won two sets 6-2 and 7-5 along with Nagy and doubles partner freshman Kacey Feng won two sets 6-0 and 6-4 as first seed players.

“It was super fun and a great experience to get to go up to Cate High School,” Nagy said. “It was interesting to play high-level tennis as it was Division 1. I’m very happy that we got the win.”

The Mustangs, now 13-5 overall, will go on to play University High School of Irvine in the second round of CIF at Mira Costa on Friday, November 3rd. They will work on improving their game before Friday’s match.

“Our team played really well against Cate in our first match of CIF,” Feng said. “I think the whole team played really well and worked very hard.”
