The Mira Costa boys soccer team defeated Culver City high school 5-0 on Thursday, Nov. 30 at home in their second preseason game.  Costa’s top performers of the match included seniors William Zhou and Cooper Arak for goals that secured Costa’s win.

An eventful first half for the Mustangs put the team at 2-0 lead with goals from George Boll and a penalty kick finished by Robert Cook.  In the second half, the Mustangs kept the offensive pressure high and scored three goals from junior Josh Guadino, Zhou, and Arak.

“We pressured the opponent as soon as we possible once he [the opponent] got the ball and cleared it,” said senior Sebastian Cisneros.

The Mustangs are overall 1-1 and play El Segundo high school next week on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at El Segundo high school. The team plans to focus on their communication defensively in next week’s training, said Cisneros.

“We also need to focus a little more on set pieces as we are still learning them and also communication offensively,” said Cisneros.
