The Mira Costa boys soccer team tied Santa Monica high school 1-1 on Friday, Dec. 15 at Santa Monica high school.  The top performers of the match included Max Haber with a game-tying goal.

An uneventful first half left the Mustangs 0-0. Santa Monica scored the first goal in the second half and took the lead, but senior Jordan Fatemi crossed a ball into the box that was finished by junior Max Haber ending the game 1-1.

“We played with heart, 1-0 down in the second half, our team persevered and got the equalizer,”  senior Will Zhou said. “It was a collective effort from the whole team.”

The Mustangs are currently 4-1-1 overall and will play Lynwood high school on Thursday, Dec. 21 in the South High Holiday Tournament. We had a lot of chances to score and win the game, but we could not convert so we need to finish our chances while also staying more focused, Zhou said.

“Overall it is a learning experience for the whole team,”  Zhou said. “We hope to keep up with the good form going into the South tournament and Bay league.”
