Costa’s Boys Basketball was narrowly defeated on Wednesday, Jan 10th by the Peninsula Panthers in an overtime home game by a score of 70-67. Costa played well on offense scoring mostly off three point shots, but wasn’t able to stop the Panthers’ guards who were very effective from short and long range. Costa’s standout player was junior Carson Carrey who hit clutch three pointers throughout the game.

The Panthers came out strong in the second half, keeping Costa on their heels until the end of the fourth. Costa trailed 60-57 with seconds left on the clock, until guard, Carson Carrey, hit a deep three to send the game to overtime. Costa fell just short in overtime, slightly losing by a score of 70-67.

“It’s hard to lose one like that because we were so close the whole way and come up short at the end,” Carson Carrey said.

Costa, now 6-10 overall and 0-1 in Bay League will play a 7:30 game at Palos Verdes on Friday, Jan 12th  in their second league game. Costa must play stout defense against the Sea Kings to get their first Bay League win.
