Lucy’s Hot Take

By Lucy Hansen

Happy Holidays! Tis’ the season when Christmas music is blasting everywhere you go. This time of year, there is no escaping it.

Ninety percent of Christmas music is chronically awful. While, yes, it can be nice to have it playing in the background while ice skating or making gingerbread houses, who unironically listens to “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” or “Silver Bells” in their free time? No hate if you like those songs (*cough* Katie Anderson), but if you listen more than once, they start sounding like nails on a chalkboard.

I can confidently say that there are probably only ten, maybe fewer, good holiday songs you can listen to over and over again. Every year, the most popular artists release mediocre covers, or try creatively to develop some indie song that don’t have the classical and nostalgic components and just aren’t as good.

But don’t worry, I’ve got a list of Christmas songs that will never fail you.

Top 10 Christmas Songs of all time

1. “Last Christmas” by WHAM!

2. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love

3. “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson

4. “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber

5. “Please Come Home for Christmas” by The Eagles

6. “All I Want for Christmas” is You by Mariah Carey

7. anything by Micheal Bublé

8. “You Make it Feel Like Christmas” by Gwen Stefani (only the chorus)

9. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams

10. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Frank Sinatra

Love,

Lucy
