Mira Costa’s Annual LipSync takes place this year on Nov. 20. During this competition, various clubs, sports teams, and organizations compete for cash prizes by performing a “LipSync” singing or acting to a theme of the group’s choice. The dance team also performs a short montage, showcasing their most popular routines at the beginning of the show.
For years, LipSync has been a way for students to get on stage and have fun with friends. It is also a large fundraiser for the Varsity Dance Team.
Last year, in the 2024 LipSync, some favorite people took home first place with their choreography. ASB finished second featuring a Harry Potter themed performance. Third Period finished in fourth place with a Peter Pan routine.
The Black Scholars Union took home first place with their Cinderella-themed LipSync performance and Comedy Sports won second place with a zombie theme.
This year the Varsity Dance Team is bringing in an exciting theme of Descendants characters, while the junior varsity dancers will be fairy tales such as Alice in Wonderland, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, and more.
Some of the teams participating are Link Crew with Barbie, the Girls Volleyball team with Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, ASB with Hairspray and staff members also performed with race car drivers.
New shows this year participating this year (not including clubs) are “13,” “Wicked,” and ISL. Some of Costa’s student-run shows this year are “Mean Girls,” “Heathers,” “High School Musical,” and “Descendants.”
Some songs that will be used this season for LipSync performances are Milkshake by Kelis, Doot Doot (6 7) by Skrilla, and Beez in the Trap by Nicki Minaj.
The dance team is once again hoping for a successful LipSync this year with many new concepts and teams bringing their best on stage performances.
Make sure to come out and show your support for La Vista as we make our LipSync debut next week.
