Charli XCX’s new movie, “The Moment,” follows the chaotic life of a rising pop star on the brink of stardom. After a 2024 album release, the film focuses on the pressures of the music industry depicted through a mockumentary.
In the film, Charlotte Aitchison (Charli XCX) plays an over-the-top version of herself as she prepares for her Brat Tour, opening with flashing strobe lights that set the tone for the rest of the movie. The fast-paced and messy cinematography symbolizes how stressful Aitchison’s life had become. From uncomfortable rehearsals and an overwhelming schedule of promotion, we see the struggles that come with being in the spotlight.
Special appearances including Kylie Jenner, Julia Fox, and Rachel Sennott added to the competitive nature of the entertainment industry. Their features support Aitchison’s message that both fans and public figures are constantly fighting to stay relevant, highlighting the pressure, judgment, and comparison they constantly face.
