Costa Baseball Wins Bay League for the First Time

The Mira Costa baseball team had an incredible season this year, showing why they’ve been one of the top teams in the area. They dominated the Bay League, taking the title and building major energy heading into CIFs. Expectations were extreme and for good reason. The Mustangs had been rolling all season, and their recent game against Arcadia just added to the streak.

“This season has been the best yet so far,” said sophomore Sebastian Gomez, “I look forward to the next season and what’s to come.”

In that playoff matchup, Mira Costa struck out Arcadia in a 5-4 thriller. It was a true nail-biter, but the Mustangs pulled through like they’ve done so many times this year. That win marked their 26th in a row and their 19th straight at home, pushing their overall record to an impressive 28-2. They were firing on all areas and looking like a real threat to make a deep playoff run.

“The game against Arcadia was definitely the most exciting game,” sophomore Camden Chen said, “We really wanted to win to keep our streak up, and we did just that.”

Unfortunately, the high came crashing down in their next game. Despite all the momentum and high hopes, Mira Costa fell short against Crespi High and their playoff journey came to a sudden end. The loss hit hard and the team was devastated, but still, the Mustangs have a lot to be proud of. They had an unforgettable season, full of big wins, packed home crowds, and one of the best records in school history.

“That last game was rough,” senior Adler Vaughan said, “But I think we played our hardest and really showed how much we care about our team.”
