Curiosity and Creativity at STEAM Night

Mira Costa hosted Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) Night last Wednesday, May 28, displaying a variety of experiments and class-specific activities that students have explored
over the past school year. In an enriching display of knowledge, students from classes including Biotech and AP Chemistry presented laboratory demonstrations to viewers.

Biotech students presented microscope slides and gels that they had run DNA samples through. AP Chemistry students showcased labs including creating hand warmers and separating synthetic pain relief mixtures.

“We showed people the labs we did, such as measuring the pH of different liquids,” said Biotech sophomore Savine Nguyen.

Not only did the event serve as a chance for underclassmen to engage in the available STEAM courses for the upcoming school year, but the display also showcased curiosity and dedication of students.
