Saint and Second excites the Manhattan Beach community. A new restaurant, Saint and Second, just opened in the Manhattan Village mall. Replacing the previous Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. Saint and Second is a Modern American restaurant with dishes inspired from multiple other cultures, including Asian and Mediterranean. It also has some basic steakhouse elements as well as traditional comfort foods.
This is the third and most recent chain of Saint and Second opened in California. The first one opened officially in Belmont shore, Long Beach, late 2015, a second location in Woodland Hills in late 2024, and now a third location in Manhattan Beach.
The architecture of the restaurant itself is extremely modern and elegant. Mostly covered in brown and wooden accents with hints of greenery in the front of the restaurant. Overall giving the restaurant a very earthy and rustic feel. Saint and Second also provides patio outdoor seating and a large bar area for guests. The restaurant has limited seating so it is best to make a reservation before dining.
The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, creating a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Location Manager Adam Hixson remarked that they are “Excited and happy to be a part of the Manhattan Beach Community for many years to come.” Hixson also remarked on what he thinks Saint and Seconds best dishes are, the smoked pork chop and pan seared salmon.
Appetizers on the dinner menu include a range of crab cakes, house rolls, fried calamari, french onion soup, chickpea hummus, ricotta meatballs, glazed pork belly, and steak tartare. They also have a range of salads including caesar, wedge, super food, stone fruit and burrata, and asian chopped. Raw fish dishes include spicy tuna on crispy rice, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and yellowfin aguachile. A variety of entrees include fish and chips, roasted chicken, pan-seared salmon, filet mignon, and glazed pork chop. A kids menu, when asked for, includes flatbread, grilled cheese, and a cheeseburger.
Some of my favorite dishes were the caesar salad, roasted chicken, and flatbread pizza. The peach hand pie with ice cream from the dessert menu was also delicious.
Overall the food tasted very fresh and flavorful. Even though the menu was on the pricier side, it was still worth it.
