Morgan Wallen’s long awaited album, “I’m the Problem,” was released on May 16, 2025. The album incorporates genres of country, rap, and pop, incorporating captivating stories and lyrics throughout all songs.
Wallen’s previous album, “One Thing At A Time,” was released in early 2023, leaving fans awaiting the release of “I’m the Problem,” for just over two years. However, the long wait has been well worth it, with 37 songs all living up to fans’ expectations.
The album starts off with the title track, “I’m the Problem,” which Wallen dropped on January 31. Putting this song first sets a tone of self conflict and misunderstanding. “I’m the Problem” grew in popularity quickly through streaming platforms and social media, making fans even more excited for the rest of the album.
The album concludes with another early release, “Just in Case,” a more melancholy song, focusing on relationships and the fear of moving on to someone new. Wallen’s desire to open up to a deeper side of life in this specific album really stood out in both the first and last songs, wrapping up the whole album smoothly.
Wallen co-wrote 22 of the 37 songs on this album, collaborating with a wide range of artists, including Eric Church, Tate McRay, HARDY, ERNEST, and Post Malone. Many of these songs turned out to be fan favorites, including “Number 3 and Number 7,” a collaboration with Eric Church.
Another fan favorite, “What I Want,” with Tate McRae, starts off with a slower guitar tempo and progresses into an upbeat pace. The lyrics highlight the awareness in a relationship about past issues and the choice of not pursuing any long term commitments.
One of the most popular songs and the third track on the album, “Superman” was one of Wallen’s deeper, more emotional songs. This song was dedicated to his son. He talks about his past mistakes and imperfection, that motivate him more to be a hero for his son, Indigo.
The cover of the album shows a drawing of Wallen looking to the side on a sandy brown and faded background. It was revealed that this cover seems to have been inspired by a courtroom sketch, emphasizing the album themes of regret and the past.
On social media, conversations suggest this could be Wallen’s most authentic work. From raw emotions in “Superman” to the upbeat tunes in “What I Want,” listeners are able to get a deeper understanding behind Wallen’s life and his growth as a person.
Wallen’s vulnerability is consistent throughout “I’m the Problem” making it one of his best albums. The blend of genres, as well as the varying emotions found in the lyrics, helps Wallen speak about his heartbreaks, redemption, growth, and self-awareness. It is clear that Wallen truly did not hold back when writing these songs, opening up to all of his fans through his unique way of storytelling.
The album is available to stream on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Youtube Music, SoundCloud, Pandora, Deezer, and iHeart. For more information, visit morganwallen.com.
