Welcome back Mustangs to Pardon Our Take. First and foremost, we believe an apology is due to our Boys Water Polo team. Last issue, we called out the lack of “crowds” and wow, they proved us wrong. They actually got a turnout against Loyola. But let’s be real, it was mostly the girls volleyball tournament with the extra teams killing time in between games. Still, we’ll give credit where it’s due and the boys are playing strong.
On a side note, Girls Volleyball’s regular season has wrapped up, and they’ve finally found their rhythm. After some early bumps, the team is coming off big wins against Bay league rivals and is ready for CIF. The energy’s high (that’s for sure), the gym’s loud (full of parents and our beloved baseball team after being forced to go), and if you haven’t been to a game yet (you most certainly haven’t), what are you even doing (please come)? Will the girls finally be able to bring home a title since 2007, or lose in the playoffs once again for the ___ year in a row.
For Football, FNL is starting to look more alive again and rightfully so with the record they uphold. And for that Friday nights might just become the place to be again, or not after our most recent incident…
Some big news, Girls Flag Football is finally getting the recognition it deserves. It’s crazy how it took a girl on the news for the team to finally get posted on the @miracostathletics page.
And last but most certainly not least, you know them (no, you don’t), you love them (sure), the Girls Golf team is pushing through their season (more like pushing through these losses). With defeats from Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes again, Peninsula, Peninsula again, South Torrance, South Torrance again. Don’t worry, all is well because they beat Torrance twice in the preseason.
That being said, here are the top five signs you’re a Costa athlete.
1. You wear flip flops to school everyday.
2. You post game-day lacks on your snap story.
3. You spend your spare time in the training room just to talk to Ryan.
4. You’ve heard “Go Costa!” from random parents who don’t know your name.
5. You’ve had team bonding dinners at CPK more times than you’d like to admit.
