A new Redondo Beach restaurant has sparked controversy, and has yet to even open. Eat Fantastic, an American diner that serves everything from burgers to pancakes, is opening its newest chain location. But the restaurant has decided to portray Kobe Bryant in a way people aren’t used to seeing.

The eye-catching mural is full of color and positioned in a way that attracts the public. The mural portrays Kobe Bryant, one of Los Angeles’ most well known professional athletes, along with three other players from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The artist has had endless praise for their bold style, and unique patterns. However, there is one detail that has generated a lot of controversy.

Instead wearing his usual purple and gold uniform representing the Lakers, Bryant is seen wearing Los Angeles Dodgers attire. Which leads many to question the meaning behind the mural.

Bryant spent his entire career playing professional basketball for the Lakers, as many know, so why put him in a jersey for a team he has never played for or associated himself with.

This choice to put him in the Dodgers uniform has made some think it takes away from his actual identity as a Laker. It feels confusing and even disrespectful in a sense.

Although, not all view it as a disrespect. Some believe it is just a piece of art, and Los Angeles should be able to root for both the Lakers and Dodgers as one.

Eat fantastic is expected to open in the coming weeks, so whether the mural is hated or loved, they sure have created a name for themselves in the beach cities.
