On May 9th, Kali Uchis released her fifth studio album, Sincerely. The album features songs ILYSMIH and Sunshine & Rain…, previously released on April 25 on her latest single, ILYSMIH. It stands as her first entirely English album since her 2018 album, Isolation.
Released through Capitol Records, the album dives into themes of existentialism, healing, and love. It showcases Uchis’ growth since her last album released in August of 2024, Orquídeas Parte 2. Sincerely marks a shift in Uchis’ style, made up of deep and distinctive topics that incorporate R&B and jazz, making it her most reflective piece of work.
Accompanied by soft piano chords and a falsetto, Uchis expresses subjects of loss and self-forgiveness. The album is mellow and detailed, with a collection of deeply personal and emotionally raw songs.
One of the most popular tracks on the album, Love Don’t Cost Forever, features a drum machine that aligns with Uchis’ quiet tone, where she meditates on the difference between real love and performative affection.
The closing track, Dear Universe, ends the album on a spiritual note, where Uchis whispers affirmations and questions over a celestial instrumental. The piece gives listeners a glimpse into her own world, and ties the album’s themes of growth and healing together.
Since its release, Sincerely has quickly gained attention and earned widespread praise across social media platforms and music pages. The album’s emotional honesty and consistency have specifically received attention and have been admired by fans.
Uchis, who first broke out in 2015 with her EP Por Vida, has spent the last few years exploring Latin Pop, and won a grammy for her 2021 hit Telepatía.
Released on May 9th, 2025, through Capitol Records. “Sincerely” is available for streaming through all major streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube Music.
