When intelligence stopped being human

Artificial Intelligence has become one of those things that most of us use daily. Whether it be to check grammar, to find ‘deeper’ answers to our questions, or to generate all sorts of images. The nature of AI is constantly evolving and constantly excelling. The more time passes, the more accessible it becomes to us, and the more we use it to a variety of advantages. We may think we’re the ones in control, and that we know what we’re doing, but, could it be that Ai is the one who has eyes on us?

Many people around the world have been using AI almost daily. We receive quick and mostly accurate responses to our questions and are able to create and generate a multitude of images, funny videos of dogs flying with fairy wings, etc. Overall, if we’re talking about just the practical value of AI, a lot of us can agree that it comes in handy. Countless amounts of students across the country use AI to enhance their education skills, including Costa. Whether it be to get a quick but concise definition of a word we don’t know, or to get a personalized summary of notes from one of our classes.

According to Rebecca Black and Bill Tomlinson’s article on how university students are using Ai in their studies, students have “begun to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in many different ways in their undergraduate education, some beneficial to their learning, and some simply expedient to completing assignments with as little work as possible.”

Ever heard of Meta glasses? Meta glasses are AI powered glasses that offer hands free capturing of videos/photos, live translation, and a built in AI assistant to converse with. Sounds pretty cool and useful, until it’s used for the wrong reasons. A man was recently caught harassing women on the campus of the University of San Francisco. Not only was he verbally troubling these students, but he also had on a pair of Meta sunglasses and was recording these interactions.

This was mentioned by Erin Clack from People.com’s article describing how a man used his meta glasses to record people without their consent; She states…”The University of San Francisco (USF) has issued a safety advisory following reports of a man using Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses to record women”. These glasses, having only been released in September of 2025, are only in the early stages of use. Who knows what bad-intentioned people may use them for in the future.

Most of us stumble across AI videos on instagram and tik tok now and then, or search for them on youtube shorts to watch from time to time. So, yes, we are watching AI. But did you know that AI is watching us too? Will Knight explains on Wired.com’s article on how AI is watching our every move… That we have more to be concerned about than we think…”Data collected from apps and websites already help optimize ads and social feeds. The same data can also reveal someone’s personal life and political leanings to the authorities.

The trend is advancing thanks to smartphones, smart cameras, and more advanced AI.”. Looks like we have to start being careful what posts we like, if it’s political, it could be used against you. As AI advances more and more as the days go by, we become more vulnerable and targeted by it. Yes, AI will help you figure out how to do a math problem or a summary of a book,, but it will also note when you like that post shunning the US government too.

All in all, AI has become a staple in many of our lives. While it’s incredibly useful and can be a huge help in a variety of situations, it can also pose a danger to us all. Stories come out daily about the wrong that comes from Ai and its developments, and it’s only seeming to get worse and more serious. Be careful out there.
